Angry Again analysis

Another band that is grossly overlooked in the lyrical department is the band Megadeth. Usually associated with thrash metal and usually ignored as artistic due to its almost comically heavy name, lyricist Dave Mustaine makes a valiant effort to make sure that strong lyric have a place in heavy metal. The song "Angry Again" is about the singer sliding back into being enraged again. The verse "The more of you that I inspect The more of me I see reflect The more I try to read your lips The more the mask you're wearing rips" gives you the image of a mask on someone's face ripping and in actuality the metaphorical mask they are wearing coming off and their true colors being shown. The chorus line goes as follows "Engaged in crime I grasp my throat, enraged my mind starts to smoke, enforced a mental overload, angry again angry again angry ow" These lines uses imagery to appeal to the senses and make you see and picture what he says he is doing.

Limelight imagery analysis

The song "limelight" is one of the Canadian band Rush's most famous and popular song. The song is sung about the struggles of life in the context of life being a theatrical production in the style of Jaques from the Shakespeare play, "As You Like It". The band Rush is not famous for being especially lyrically stong although they actuallky are. Lyricist Neil Peart uses a variety of poetic devices to paint a picture with words throughout the Rush catalogue. This song is no exception with its use of imagery to adhere to the senses and allow the listener to delve into the song.Examples of this are as such in the line "In touch with some reality beyond the gilded cage." The word gilded usually refers to being gilded with a small amount of gold in order to give the appearance of the product actually being gold. This illustrates in your mind the sight of a gilded cage which may at first seem enticing but after further inspection you will realize the cage (being captive to a set way) is not all that it is supposed to be. Another line is "living in a fisheye lens, caught in the camera eye, I have no heart to lie" This appeals once again to the sense of sight and allows you to see in your mind being seen through a "fisheye lens" or a camera.

angry again by megadeth

Angry Again lyrics
The more of you that I inspect, The more of me I see reflect,
The more I try to read your lips, The more the mask you're wearing rips.
But when I seek out your voice, My ears are overcome with noise,
You show and tell with greatest ease, Raving impossibilities.
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat, Enraged my mind starts to smoke.
Enforce a mental overload,
Angry again, angry again, angry ow!
And when the story takes a twist, It folds like a contortionist.
Sleight of hand and quick exchange, The old tricks have been rearranged.
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat, Enraged my mind starts to smoke.
Enforce a mental overload,
Angry again, angry again, angry.
The searing of the sinew, My body fights for air.
The ripping of the tissue, My lungs begin to tear.
Gravity's got my bones, It pulls my flesh away.
The steam finally dissipates, I make out my sweaty face.
Association that I choose, Game I inevitably lose.
Governed by laws set up by me, Fracture it's jaw to let me be.
A cut-out cardboard condomaze, Filled with an insubordinate race.
Irrational youths stop to stare, As music rubber hosed the air.
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat, Enraged my mind starts to smoke.
Enforce a mental overload,
Angry again, angry again, angry again,
And again and again, again.
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat, Enraged my mind starts to smoke.
Enforce a mental overload,
Angry again, angry again, angry ow!

limelight lyrics

Limelight lyrics
Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage
Cast in this unlikely role
Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact
[Chorus:]Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem
Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme
Living in a fish eye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend
All the world's indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each another's audience
Outside the gilded cage[Chorus]

Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Rime Of The Ancient Mariner[Harris]

Hear the rime of the Ancient Mariner
See his eye as he stops one of three
Mesmerises one of the wedding guests
Stay here and listen to the nightmares
of the SeaAnd the music plays on, as the bride passes by
Caught by his spell and
the Mariner tells his tale.
Driven south to the land of the snow and ice
To a place where nobody's been
Through the snow fog flies on the albatross
Hailed in God's name, hoping good luck it brings.
And the ship sails on, back to the North
Through the fog and ice andthe albatross follows on
The mariner kills the bird of good omen
His shipmates cry against what he's done
But when the fog clears, they justify him
And make themselves a part of the crime.
Sailing on and on and North across the sea
Sailing on and on and North 'till all is calm
The albatross begins with its vengeance
A terrible curse a thirst has begun
His shipmates blame bad luck on the Mariner
About his neck, the dead bird is hung.
And the curse goes on and on and on at sea
And the thirst goes on and on for them and me
"Day after day, day after day,we stuck nor breath nor motion
As idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean
Water, water everywhere and
all the boards did shrinkWater, water everywhere nor any drop to drink."
[SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE (1772-1834)]
There, calls the marinerthere comes a ship over the line
But how can she sail with no windin her sails and no tide.
See... onward she comes
Onwards she nears, out of the sun
See... she has no crew
She has no life, wait but there's two
Death and she Life in Death, they throw their dice for the crew
She wins the Mariner and he belongs to her now.
Then ... crew one by one
They drop down dead, two hundred men
She... She, Life in Death.
She lets him live, her chosen one.
[NARRATIVE]"One after one by the star dogged moon,
too quick for groan or sigh
Each turned his face with a ghastly pangand cursed me with his eye
Four times fifty living men(and I heard nor sigh nor groan),
With heavy thump, a lifeless lump,
they dropped down one by one."
[SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE (1772-1834)]
The curse it lives on in their eyes
The Mariner he wished he'd die
Along with the sea creatures
But they lived on, so did he.
And by the light of the moon
He prays for their beauty not doom
With heart he blesses them
God's creatures all of them too.
Then the spell starts to break
The albatross falls from his neck
Sinks down like lead into the Sea
Then down in falls comes the rain.
Hear the groans of the long dead seamen
See them stir and they start to rise
Bodies lifted by good spirits
None of them speakand they're lifeless in their eyes
And revenge is still sought, penance starts again
Cast into a trance and the nightmare carries on.
Now the curse is finally lifted
And the Mariner sights his home
Spirits go from the long dead bodies
Form their own light and
the Mariner's left alone
And then a boat came sailing towards him
It was a joy he could not believe
The Pilot's boat, his son and the hermit
Penance of life will fall onto Him.
And the ship it sinks like lead into the sea
And the hermit shrives the mariner of his sins
The Mariner's bound to tell of his story
To tell his tale wherever he goes
To teach God's word by his own example
That we must love all things that God made.
And the wedding guest's a sad and wiser man
And the tale goes on and on and on.
